What a wedding! What a weekend! I’m exhausted but happy, which is not a bad place to be.
My amazing daughter Sarah Jane married Tadhg O’Leary last Friday at Castlemartyr Resort and everything went spectacularly well. The weather was incredible for the outdoor humanist ceremony, the venue was stunning, the band outstanding, and the bride – well she was just incredible.
I’ll be in recovery mode for a while as I am still tired after the week-long lead-up to the main event and the three days in Castlemartyr.
I took it for granted that Sarah Jane would be radiant, but I never saw her so calm and relaxed. Trish and I were never so proud of her. Family, friends, former school and college friends of Sarah Jane and Tadhg made this a very special occasion and I was just thrilled to be there.
I was especially delighted that my mum was able to make it given that she suffered a few falls recently, but she got through it ok, as did Tadhg’s grandmother. After a night away on their own, the happy couple are coming to spend the night with us before setting off on their honeymoon. I can only wish them every health and happiness.
You’ll be glad to know I made a Father of the Bride speech that didn’t embarrass her or me! I could have said so much more but I was afraid of being lynched! Still, we all survived it and I’m grateful for that.
Now all I have to do is the million jobs I put off while we were counting down to the wedding. The garden is wildly overgrown and weeds have appeared everywhere. Time to get working and get the place in shape before we head off on a long postponed holiday.
