Bio: Blogger and writer. Worked as sub editor in Irish Examiner for 42 years. Married to Trish. Father of two grown up children. I was burned at the age of two, and grew up with a chip on my shoulder about being facially disfigured, but no more. This blog is about my life, and how I gradually overcame many years of self-imposed social isolation. It's about redemption. I also write on other subjects, so pay attention and keep reading these blogs. I intend to write regularly. You have been warned, I will respond to all comments. I'm also on Twitter @1tomhickey

hi tom, my name is sorcha farrell, and i am from castledermot, in south kildare. i was watching the ray darcy show last night, and it was great, and when you came on, it reminded me of my dads cousin in england, who was also burned and has a face disfigurement, and is a lovely person, just like you are. i have a mild learning disability, and i was bullied a lot because of it. bullies dont know what its like, untill its done to them. from sorcha farrell.
Sorry to hear about your experience Sorcha. No one deserves to be bullied. There is simply no excuse for it. I hope you are in a better place today. Thanks for getting in touch.
